Thank you for all of the tape donations! My classroom needs are as follows: refillable tape rolls, index cards, paper towels, and cups for drinking water.
Just a reminder that conferences are this Wednesday from 4:30-7:30. I hope to see you there!

Students are getting really busy with life and school. Please be sure that students are using their trackers to stay organized! Students should be updating their notebooks at least weekly as part of their "homework."
I still need more tape and cups for the classroom if you are able to send these in for us. Thanks in advance! Hey everyone. In case you live without the use of media and never talk to anyone, I thought I would let you know that an exciting time in our history is upon us. There will be a partial eclipse on Monday around 10:36 am. It will start earlier and end later but this is the peak time for us in Tucson. In science we will be going over some interesting facts and review eclipses. We will work on showing every student how to use their solar glasses properly and safely. Please encourage anyone you come into contact with during that morning that they should never, never look directly at the eclipse without approved glasses. It should be a memorable day for all!
I have supplied the notebook for your students and that is all that they need for science, personally. However, I really need rolls of filler tape, and Kleenex for the classroom. Additionally, I didn't realize that the science classrooms lack a drinking fountain. Dixie cups for students to get a drink would be appreciated so that they don't have to leave the classroom.
We are off to a pretty good start this week. Students should have brought home a syllabus, had it signed and returned. Some students' schedules are still being changed and therefore I will not enter points for that until next week when I know the classes are set. The students are awesome! Dear Emily Gray Families,
Welcome back to school! This is my sixth year teaching 8th grade science. I am excited to partner with Mr. Stock and Mrs. Maxwell to offer engaging learning opportunities for the students in science. Science has been my passion area since I was young when I wanted to be a veterinarian. Instead, I pursued a volleyball scholarship and graduated with a B.S. in Biotechnology from Ferris State University. I hold two secondary endorsements in General Science and Biology and have my Arizona teaching certificate. I also love to participate in science workshops and learn as much as I can to bring it all back to the classroom. We will continue implementing the Next Generation Science Standards into our classrooms as we believe this will ready our students better for their studies at the next level. A snapshot of the year: Our 8th graders will be focusing on the engineering design and scientific process, utilizing technology for scientific research, heredity, diversity and adaptations, an in-depth look at how atoms, matter, elements, and the periodic table all flow together, and Newton’s Laws and energy. I look forward to getting to know you this year, Lara Huetter |
